Blood Type AB – Dietary Advice

BLOOD TYPE AB – DIETARY ADVICE

Ideal diet type for this blood group is VEGETARIAN.  The digestive tract is sensitive in this blood group and meat therefore slows up the metabolism and produces more acid than normal.  Meat metabolises and turns to fat and causes insulin problems with this blood group.  Wheat can also be a problem as it inhibits energy being produced in the body.  Wheat is also very acidic in this blood group so keep to foods that are more alkaline for better calorie utilization.

Water in itself should have a special mention.  Our bodies need water constantly for cleansing and replenishing the body systems, without water we would die.  It goes without saying that we should drink on average between 1 to 2 litres per day depending on your activity and lifestyle.

Foods that Encourage Weight Gain

  • Red meat
  • Sweetcorn
  • Buckwheat
  • Seeds
  • Kidney Beans &  Lima Beans
  • Wheat

Foods that Encourage Weight Loss

  • Tofu
  • Seafood
  • Kelp
  • Dairy products
  • Soya foods
  • Green vegetables
  • Alkaline fruits
  • Pineapple – this increases intestinal mobility and calorie utilization

Meat, Poultry & Game

This blood group does not produce enough stomach acid to effectively digest animal protein.  Avoiding all smoked and cured meats is essential as these foods can cause stomach cancer in people with low levels of stomach acid.

Fish & Seafood

There is a good variety of seafoods in this blood group that are highly beneficial and an excellent source of protein. If you have a history of breast cancer in your family then you should try to eat snails as they provide a powerful lectin that helps fight this disease.

Dairy Products

This blood group can tolerate small amounts of fermented dairy products but must avoid anything made from whole milk.  It would be wise to limit the intake of eggs to no more than 3 a week.  Good choices are yoghurt, kefir and cultured diary products.  Raw goats milk is an excellent substitute and of course soya milk and soya cheeses.  It would be best then to avoid all other diary products not made form goats milk and soya milk.

Cereals

Generally this group does well on grains but limit the wheat consumption because the inner kernel of the wheat grain is highly acid forming for this blood group.  If you are trying to lose weight then taking wheat out of your diet is the best thing for you and you will see the weight drop off.  Avoid wheat if you have a mucus condition as this increases production of mucus.  The best thing for this blood group is to experiment how much wheat your body can tolerate.

Breads & Crispbreads

This guideline is similar to cereals and if you suffer with an over production of mucus or over weight then you should certainly look at these foods first.  Sprouted wheat bread or Essene Bread is where the gluten lectin is destroyed in the sprouting process, however be aware that spouted breads sold commercially often contain a small proportion of sprouted wheat.

Grains & Pasta

This blood group would benefit from eating a diet rich in rice rather than pasta.  Limit the eating of bran and wheatgerm products to once a week.

Nuts & Seeds

These should be eaten in small amounts and with caution as they contain insulin that inhibit lectins for this blood group.  On the other hand this blood group share the Type A preference for peanuts which are a powerful immune booster.

Oils & Fats

This blood group needs very little fat to function well but a tablespoon of olive oil, macadamia oil or UDO’s oil on salads or vegetables every day will aid in digestion and elimination.  This will have a positive effect on reducing cholesterol.  Do not use other oils as these cause problems in the digestive tract.

Vegetables, Sprouts & Fresh Herbs

These foods should be eaten several times a day to aid the immune system.  Tomatoes and tofu should be in the diet on a regular basis but must avoid sweetcorn and all corn based products.

Beans & Pulses

This section is a mixed bag for this blood group.  The chickpeas, kidney and Lima beans will slow insulin production whilst the lentils, navy, pinto and red beans will zest up your system and provide cancer fighting antioxidants.

Fruits

Freshly squeezed lemon juice in warm water is ideal for this blood group as this will help in elimination of toxins in the blood .  Avoid orange juice.

Juices & Other Fluids

This blood group would benefit each day by drinking a glass of warm water with freshly squeezed juice of half a lemon to cleanse the system of mucus and aid the elimination process. For de-stressing go for the high-alkaline fruit juices like black cherry, cranberry and grape.

Spices, Herbs & Flavourings

Sea salt and kelp should be used in place of processed table salt.  Kelp is useful for weigh control as this will help thyroid function.  Avoid pepper and vinegar as these are too acidic for this blood group.  It would be best to use lemon juice instead of vinegar for making dressings.  Sugar and chocolate are allowed in small amounts (sorry) so use them as you would do as condiments.  Avoid all pickled condiments due to this blood groups susceptibility to stomach cancer.  Avoid ketchup which contains vinegar.

Herbal Teas

Herbal teas should be drunk by this blood group as it spices up the immune system and builds protection against the diseases of the cardiovascular system. Green tea is particularly beneficial as is dandelion, burdock root and strawberry leaf teas which aid absorption of iron and help prevent anaemia.

Condiments

It would be best to avoid all pickled condiments due to this blood groups susceptibility to stomach cancer. You must avoid Ketchup as this contains vinegar.

Beverages

Coffee, green tea and red wine are particularly good for this blood group as these increase stomach acid but do not over do it too much.

Supplements

This blood group would benefit from supplementation to help the immune system, the cardiovascular system and because this blood group is more susceptible to cancer then a good supply of antioxidants would not go amiss.

  • Vitamin C
  • Zinc
  • Selenium
  • Milk Thistle to protect the liver
  • Hawthorn to protect the heart
  • Quercetin to protect the heart and more powerful than Vitamin E

Just one last thing …

Remember that your body is unique and some foods may differ from the chart below.  Your parents and your grandparents genetics play an important part in your makeup therefore gradually go through the list to eliminate the foods that are not beneficial to your body first.  This will help you achieve your goal of better health quickly and positively with less intolerance and allergies.
